Job description

The workshop Foreman is responsible for communicating the procedures and processes to be followed in the execution of daily operations, and for ensuring that they are adhered to. He positively influences his team to ensure compliance with directives set by project managers. Under the supervision of the Project Management Office Director, the workshop foreman is responsible for managing the workshop. He must ensure that assembly, installation and repairs carried out by technicians comply with company procedures and policies.

Main responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate group activities to ensure efficient, high-quality production
  • Allocate tasks to workers to ensure optimum use of resources
  • Follow occupational health and safety standards to ensure a safe working environment
  • Monitor workshop conditions, including cleanliness, safety and equipment condition
  • Check work progress
  • Examine designated work and ensure quality inspection forms are properly completed
  • Analyze problems and provide solutions in close collaboration with the customer, using a variety of known and innovative methods and techniques.
  • Organize shop work schedules to ensure maximum productivity
  • Ensure production deadlines are met and performance targets achieved
  • Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance of shop machines and equipment
  • Ensure that all equipment is in good working order
  • Ensure that work teams have the right equipment and consumables to carry out their work efficiently and productively.
  • Maintain harmony and team spirit within work group
  • Act as mentor and motivator to company resources
  • Participate in HR tasks such as planning employee training and evaluation, and hiring technicians
  • Make customer satisfaction a priority
  • Protector of the company and its values
  • Available to travel and install equipment at customer sites

Desired skills

  • Familiarity with MS Office suite software
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical installation
  • Knowledge of automated systems (an asset)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships internally and with customers and their executives
  • Organized and able to manage priorities and demonstrate rigor in work execution
  • Dynamic and entrepreneurial leader who is motivated to achieve objectives
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
