Cellulosic ethanol plant


Our client developed an innovative technique for converting waste into second-generation ethanol through a gasification process. The first industrial plant was a pilot facility in Westbury, Eastern Townships, where Systemex Automation was awarded a full engineering mandate to automate the process. Systemex Automation carried out detailed engineering of the instrumentation, electrical and automation processes based on the client’s preliminary P&ID. From detailed engineering to start-up, our team worked closely with the client to transform a laboratory concept and deliver a functional process and industrial facility with great potential in the context of green energy production. This mandate also comprised the implementation of a Siemens Distributed Control System.
