Safety guard

Mandate:

The Systemex Automation team was responsible for the design and implementation of a safety guard surrounding a new Gemcor riveting machine used in the assembly of airplane parts. In order to simplify operations, the guard was equipped with three power-driven doors and one manual door. At each door, access request and emergency stop buttons were installed inside and outside of the guard. The opening and closing of doors is controlled by the machine's operator interface. When a request for access is made, the machine completes the current operation before allowing the door to open. The safety guard was designed in accordance with the safety standards in effect.
