Job Overview

LEAD BUYER-PLANNER

Key Responsibilities

Implement strategies for each commodity or major room families;

Negotiate and manage agreements with our suppliers including commercial, legal and inventory management aspects;

Manage and Ensure an engaged and successful supply chain team in line with the company's growth objectives and new product introduction;

Planning and forecasting of materials, shipping and monitoring of order schedules and deliveries;

Maintain an adequate level of equipment while processing and executing purchasing decisions

Establish, manage and maintain effective relationships with suppliers;

Management and mitigation of supply chain risks and disruptions;

Resolving supplier quality, service, support and delivery issues;

Work closely with the various stakeholders to analyze needs and plan purchases of equipment, subcontractors, other products and services;

Work with an MRP system;

Create and maintain Key Performance Indicators for supplier management and take corrective action when necessary;

Provide recommendations that will have a positive impact on technology, quality, cost and turnaround time;

Manage all import documents before sending them to the customs broker for customs clearance;

Ensure compliance with company directives, purchasing policies and procedures;

Understand the manufacturing and assembly sequences of equipment in order to properly prioritize component purchases, manufacturing and assembly sequencing;

Monitor and advise on any matter of risk or opportunity to the organization;

Visit suppliers for negotiations, relationships or resolve issues as needed;

Have the ability to work and manage situations under pressure related to the needs to meet deadlines of the production chain.

Skills in demand

A bachelor's degree in business, operations management, or equivalent

Minimum of 10 years of experience with a majority in procurement or purchasing in the manufacturing sector

Experience with an MRP / ERP system,

Strong skills and experience in commodity strategy development and negotiations.

Available to travel and travel to suppliers as needed
