Systemex Automation is moving to a more spacious location!

In an effort to better serve our clients and meet the ever-growing demand for our specialized services, we decided to invest more in our infrastructure by tripling the size of our office space.

To kick off the new year, we will be moving to 4075 Industriel Blvd. in Laval. Our new location is still relatively close to our old office which avoids causing any major changes for our clients.

This strategic decision made by our Management team supports our commitment to improving and strengthening our operations, while providing comfort that meets the expectations of our customers and our employees.

The primary goal of this move is to give our employees a sense of well-being. We also want our employees to work in a fun, stimulating, and motivating atmosphere. Employees will enjoy on-site amenities including a gourmet bistro offering healthy meals, a gym and a modern café corner. The new workspace will be properly equipped and will feature a spacious and well-organized workshop.

We are confident that this change will have a positive impact on employee performance and will contribute to increased customer satisfaction!

SA develops a vision system!

Systemex Automation (SA) is proud to have successfully completed the installation and start-up of a vision system for one of its clients, specializing in the roasting and packaging of various nut products. The purpose of the mandate was to increase quality control and automation to boost operational efficiency. The original mandate consisted in the development of a vision system for the quality control inspection of various nut products. Specifically, to inspect the product immediately after packaging and to track the product until a downstream reject station, located after the existing x-ray detection system. Our system was designed to perform a quality control inspection, store and track results, and send our signal to the x-ray machine in order to reject defective products. The reject station would receive input from two separate quality control detection stations (vision and x-ray systems). With a tight 4-week delivery deadline, our team worked seamlessly to schedule visits, determine detailed specifications/functionality, take measurements, perform mechanical / electrical design, order parts and components, plan for supplier lead times, assemble, test, and start-up in a race against the clock. Not only did we deliver a functional system within 4 weeks but our client was impressed with our level of professionalism and ability to meet their needs in spite of a strict deadline. The success of the mandate was made possible by our dedicated team of mechanical, electrical and vision specialists who came together to make this happen. Systemex Automation would like to thank every member of the team for their hard work and dedication.

A new project for Systemex Automation!

Systemex Automation was mandated to design and implement a palletizing system. The integration of this new equipment, adapted to the various manipulation criteria, will make operations safer and more reliable. The solution proposed by our team includes a conveyor for transporting the products to the handling station, which is operated by a robot with a 210 kg capacity. Systemex Automation will, once again, demonstrate its leadership in robotic integration.

Mechanical engineering and design of a helium compressor control system project

Systemex Automation obtained a mandate to carry out the mechanical engineering and the design of a helium compressor control system to be shipped to Saskatchewan. This compressor, originating from Europe, had to be modified in order to comply with the Explosives Act Class I Group 2 and with Canadian security standards (CRN, CSA). After having completed the design, fabrication, programming, testing and installation of the piping on the compressor’s platform, the project was declared a huge success. The mandate officially ended in mid-April, 2016 according to schedule. The success of this large-scale project will allow Systemex Automation to strengthen its partnership with the customer and to be well-positioned in the high pressure systems industry. sa1

Systemex Automation has received its Controlled Goods Program (CGP) Certificate of Registration

Systemex Automation is proud to announce that it has received its Controlled Goods Program (CGP) Certificate of Registration from Public Works and Government Services Canada. The CGP’s mandate is to strengthen Canada’s defense trade controls through the mandatory registration and regulation of businesses and individuals who examine, possess and/or transfer controlled goods. Controlled goods are primarily goods that have military or national security significance. Additional information is available at http://ssi-iss.tpsgc-pwgsc.gc.ca/dmc-cgd/index-eng.html.

This certificate will allow Systemex Automation to qualify for projects which require the CGP certificate, and to expand its presence in a much smaller market and, as a result, to maximize project opportunities.

Bombardier – Test Benches (RAT & ASG) & Programming

In the aerospace industry, Systemex Automation can rely on one of its most loyal customers, Bombardier Aerospace, for many of its large-scale projects. Thanks to Bombardier, Systemex Automation can showcase its ability to carry out the most innovative engineering projects of its kind. Among the many projects completed for Bombardier Aerospace, the Test Benches (RAT & ASG) & Programming mandate stands out from the rest.

In fact, as part of this project, our team was responsible for the mechanical design of two test benches for on-board generators (RAT & ASG). These generators not only deliver electricity to the aircraft’s standard electrical systems (lighting, ventilation, entertainment, etc.), but they also feed the emergency systems (navigation instruments, hydraulic pumps, etc.) should the aircraft’s reactors fail. In addition to aerospace standards currently in place, Systemex Automation had to rely on sophisticated design techniques such as finite element analyses in order to ensure compliance with the requirements and quality standards set by our client, particularly with respect to vibration absorption caused by the high rotational speeds of the two generators (8600 & 13800 RPM). We also carried out the assembly, testing, and commissioning of the test benches at the Bombardier plant.

The second phase of this large-scale project consisted of programming the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) control system as well as the Human Machine Interface (HMI) to control the hydraulic systems that simulate loads on the aircraft’s wings. This equipment is intended to qualify all aircrafts before their first flight. We are extremely happy with the quality of our service and deployment efforts throughout the realization of this project which have earned us the satisfaction and continued trust of our client.

Systemex Automation received its CSA certificate of compliance

Good news! Systemex Automation received its CSA certificate of compliance for its electrical panel shop, allowing the company to use the CSA certification mark on the panels it assembles.

Thanks to this accreditation Systemex Automation will be able to reduce its lead time; furthermore, to cut down on the costs of its panels while increasing its flexibility during the course of a project.

This accreditation is part of a series of initiatives undertaken by the company who is facing an increase in the volume of its activities both at the manufacturing and at the engineering levels in an effort to provide a superior level of service and quality, beyond market expectations.
