Membrane keyboard testing

Mandate:

Systemex Automation was responsible for the electrical and mechanical design, manufacturing, programming of handling sequences and start-up of the robotic cell. This precise robotic cell is used for crimping, connector insertions and keyboard testing in addition to quality inspections of membrane keyboards manufactured by the client. The technologies used ensured that the team complied with quality standards and achieve a higher production rate solution.

The following criteria were met:

  • 20-second cycle time (4 keyboards per minute)
  • Laminate pressure configurable between 5 and 25 lbs per sq.in.
  • 5 circuits manufactured on the same robotic cell
  • Circuit tolerance of 0.375 inches
  • Pressure applied to keys, during testing, adjustable between 100g and 1kg
